Challenges
Commissioner Municipal Administration (CMA) needed unified data visualization and reporting application to dynamically analysis data towards improving 135 Urban Local Bodies (ULB) service levels across Municipal Establishment, Revenue & Finance, Infrastructure, Urban Poor, Public Health schemes and work details. Lack of centrally managed application resulted in all 135 ULBs sending data repetitively. Manual Excel consolidation resulted in errors and delays in data analysis across the Districts, Regions and State of Tamil Nadu.
Solution Offered
A data entry SharePoint portal was developed for all 135 ULB staff to update specific data towards, Municipal Establishment, Revenue & Finance, Infrastructure, Urban Poor, Public Health schemes and work details. Data was consolidated in excel, and Power View visualizations was developed for web access. Power View enabled the user to download the visualizations for offline analysis. A companion tablet app was developed to download and visualize the data stored in the SharePoint portal. Push notification alerts the tablet application users on any data update availability.
Business Impact
The business intelligence dashboards, improved the efficiency in reporting the scheme work details of all 135 ULBs to the CMA. Power View used in SharePoint Portal helped in the dynamic visualization of the data enabling multi-dimensional analysis and supporting executive decision making process. Consolidation of data across district, region and state was now feasibility for effective comparison and evaluation.
